Print and Online Resources
The school media center at Assumption High School has 28 computers in a separate alcove of the library. Many teachers check out this area to bring their classes to the media center. In addition, the media center has 24 computers for general use by students during their study. The media center also has two laser jet printers and a SmartBoard.
Teachers and students use our InfoCentre Catalog to search for print resources. Students and teachers can access reference books, nonfiction books, fiction books, biographies, magazines, newspapers, and audiovisual materials in the media center.
Teachers and students can also access journal articles through our online subscription databases (e.g. InfoTrac - Student Resource Center Silver, InfoTrac - Opposing ViewPoints Critical Thinking, Culture Grams Online, Bridges Career Database, Vocational Biographies Database, etc.).
Check-outs
Reference books can be checked out from the end of the day until homeroom of the next school day.
All other books can be checked out for three weeks and may be renewed if there is not a request for the item. You may check out up to ten materials at a time. Don't miss our monthly displays in the library on the fiction shelves!
Students use their ID cards to check-out library materials.
Notices
First Week with Overdue Materials
As a courtesy, the media center staff will send an email to students who have overdue materials on Tuesday mornings, but it is the responsibility of the student to know when books are due. Students need to return overdue materials by 3:15 p.m. on Thursday of that week.
Second Week with Overdue Materials
The media center staff will send out a second email on the following Tuesday morning if the overdue materials have not been returned to the library. Students need to return overdue materials to the media center as soon as possible.
Third Week with Overdue Materials
If the overdue materials are not returned by Tuesday of the third week, the student will be issued a detention and media center privileges will be suspended. All materials checked out of the media center must be returned or paid for before final exams are taken. Also, students are responsible for reimbursing the media center for any lost books.
