Students receive notification about opportunities for standardized testing preparation and experience, learn about academic opportunities and resources, and receive notification concerning cultural events.

McAULEY SCHOLARS

Students will be recognized as McAuley Scholars if they enroll in all advanced-level classes and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA. They receive academic advising from a designated administrator or advisor, may elect to participate in Scholars’ Forum, gain additional opportunities for standardized testing preparation and experience, learn about opportunities and resources for academically gifted students, and receive notification concerning cultural events.

SCHOLAR'S FORUM

McAuley Scholars may elect to participate in this seminar course with other academically gifted students. These students work with their teacher to explore topics and issues outside of the scope of the regular high school curriculum.

Some past topics of student interest and exploration include the Amish, linguistics, conspiracy theories, philosophies, human and animal rights, the divine proportion, American countercultures, the Kentucky Derby, protest music, politics and current events.

Scholars Forum will generally meet every fourth school day during the students' study period. It is designed to provide intellectual opportunities that call upon and extend the learning they experience in their regular courses. Students earn .25 credit for each year's participation in this forum based on their active participation and attendance.
